Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
